"Over the past few years, I've bought many fine hardwood
logs from Dave Piercy. I run a local furniture making workshop and
I need a constant supply of prime quality Oak and Elm boards in
various thicknesses. I'll usually call in past the sawmill at Glenmellan
to view the timber in the round and select a couple of logs. I'll
ask Dave to cut these to my specified thickness and a few days later
the timber will arrive at Lethenty Mill,
neatly stickered and tightly banded. (We air dry and kiln the timber
ourselves but Dave can supply kiln dried timber too).
In all our dealings, I've always found Dave and Dianne to be
a pleasure to do business with. They've always been fair and honest
with me and I look forward to my timber buying visits - there's
usually time for a wander about a cup of tea and some more of Dave's
stock of old tales of the timber trade.
He's been working with trees - felling and milling wood for more
than 50 years and is a great source of knowledge.
Dave has many contacts with the local estates and has a true
woodsman's eye for a prime quality timber tree. There's usually
a good selection of quality timber to choose from - whether you
want just a few boards or several full burr logs and the prices
are fairly reasonable. We have a good working relationship - long
may it continue!
I haven't any hesitation in recommending Dave Piercy as a knowledgeable,
